Berman Autostyle Design Competition 2020: with the Digital Edition, the automotive design is online

The Autostyle Design Competition 2020 edition, the international invitation-only event dedicated to automotive design promoted by Berman S.p.A., the Italian leading company in the production of original equipment components and original car accessories.

A very different edition than usual, due to the events related to the Covid19 emergency, if the long tradition of “meetings in Villa” is therefore suspended for this year, Autostyle is now moving in the Design Centers of the main carmakers, with webinar together with the international design protagonists, created directly in the conception and research centers.

All this will be possible thanks to the partecipation of the Design Centers of the Houses, but also to the contribution of the technical partners of the event, starting with the active support of the main partner Wacom.

The Autostyle Digital Edition 2020 meetings will therefore be online, in a way that will be communicated to the members, and will have a weekly cadence every Thursday afternoon for two months.

The event will open with the “Plenary” on September 24, which will be attended by all the Design Centers, the Partners Wacom, 3M.  Auto & Design and Fleet Car, and the students participating in the main design competition and others Contest expected.

At present, they confirmed workshops are:

• Maserati (October 1)

• Volvo and Polestar (October 8)

• Lamborghini (October 15)

• Ford Cologne (October 22)

• Toyota TEDD (October 29)

• Fiat (November 5)

• Pagani (November 12)

• Alfa Romeo (November 19)

• Dallara  (November 19)

These are interesting and high-level meetings, in which the designers will illustrate models of recent production, or yet to be presented, with many innovations especially concerning the increasingly current electric motorization.

The arrival point of this event, digital but more extended in time and space than usual, will be on November 26th, with the ceremony for the awarding of the Autostyle design prize: as always the prize is intended for students of international design schools  that responded to the 2020 call, selected and awarded by an international Evaluation Committee, made up of designers and journalists.

Unlike previous years, the prize will not be broken down by car categories, but will be awarded to the only student who has obtained the best consensus from the jury for all his sketches.

Two other Contests are scheduled, which will also be covered in the Start day of 24 September: the Wacom design competition “Drive the future” and that of 3M Italy “A new skin for car design”.
